You hated going out tree shopping with your family. They were always asking for your opinions on every 'beautiful' tree they saw. To be frank you really didn't care much about how the tree looked or how tall it was. As long as you got out of there quickly. You would say yes to one tree and your dad would say something like "Oh, but look at that tree over there, isn't she gorgeous?!" you would awkwardly reply "Yeah." And try to get away from them. This was a tree shopping day. You sighed "I'm going to go look around if that's alright." You said, "Okay, just be very careful!" your mom said. You nodded and sprinted the complete opposite direction that they were in. As soon as they were not in eyeshot you stopped and began to walk in between the aisle of the trees. Today had been a snow day. So your school had a day off for you. Every tree you passed look very nice in the white soft looking blanket they wore.
You knew you made it to the last row once you saw the fence. You turned the corner to begin your way back to your parents, but you were cut off by a boy, maybe 3 years older than you. He had snow like hair and was wearing a blue hoodie. He was crouching next to a staff that had a curve at the top that resembled the letter 'G', you couldn't get a great view of the rest of him. You could hear him faintly muttering to himself. "Uh e-excuse me…" you said, he quickly jolted up. "Oh." He replied. You noticed his brown pants were torn at the bottom and he had no shoes. He moved out of the way to let you pass and you smiled and quickly dashed away before he could say anything else. "Wow… his eyes…" you thought to yourself. "They were so…blue…" you sighed to yourself in awe. "____! Were are you?! We need to head back!" you heard your brother call you. You quickly sprinted back. You were very good at running. Since you had a tendency to miss the bus every morning, you ran to school. It may seem silly, but it was the only way to get to school. If you walked you would miss first period. Your parents were at work so they couldn't drive you. Once you reached your brother the both of you walked back to the car. You were silent the whole drive. Every corner the car turned you could have sworn you saw the boy.
Once you got home your mom began preparing dinner. You went to your room and sat down and turn on your laptop. You logged on to your Facebook and began to pester your friend, Sabrina about the boy you say.
"hey, Sabrina! I need to tell u something" you typed
"yeah what ?" she replied
"I saw this strange boy today"
"and ur telling me this…"
"I wanna talk about him. I just keep thinking about him and I need to let out what I have to say!"
"uh okay shoot"
"the boy had white the color of snow!! And his eyes were so blue!"
"oooohh I think ___ is in luuuuvvv~"
"uh well uh no not that,he was just very interesting is all. No not love at all!"
"keep telling yourself that, cupcake, hey ive gotta go. And if you and lover boy meet again, TELL ME EVERYTHING!"
"Oh fine… I will…"
You sighed feeling your face heat up. "Sure he was cute and all but I am certainly not in love!" you said to yourself. "____, dinner's ready!" you heard from downstairs. "Be right there!" you said and shut down your laptop. You went downstairs to the kitchen and sat down, beginning your meal.
Once you finished you toke a shower, and brushed your teeth. Then you got into your pajamas and tried to sleep. Your mind kept drifting to the boy. If you were thinking about school, you thought about what it would be like to have him as a new student in your class. Once you actually fell asleep, your dreams kept being invaded by this mysterious boy. You were not sure why you couldn't stop thinking about him, maybe it was love, maybe you were just curious. You wanted to find out.
TIME SKIP: 3 YEARS LATER
You groaned getting out of bed today you were going to get a tree for Christmas. Since you had turned the responsible, appropriate to do things on your own, you were on tree duty this year. That and your parents were feeling lazy this year, and since our brother moved out you had no choice to get the tree yourself. Today was a nice bright Saturday, you looked outside your window and saw the lawn covered with a thick layer of snow. You smiled and put on your clothes, not bothering to take a shower. You gathered the keys to your dad's pickup truck and started the engine. You got in and began driving to the local Home Depot. Once you arrived you began looking for a decent tree. Half way in your search you stopped and looked at the last row. You felt a soft, warm presence emitting from it. You didn't understand why. "_____..." you heard a voice call your name. You, again, felt like you knew this voice.
You turned around and gasped.
